CALL TO WORSHIP (Responsively)

One: Here we are! A light has dawned on a brand new day!

All: A day we have waited for, a day we have stayed up late for.

One: Jesus has been born! Born in you. Born in me. And the world cannot deny it!

All: Today we start a new beginning. A fresh start. A new chapter. 

One: Can you feel it? Do you recognize the wonderous mystery that is stirring in your heart?

All: Come let us worship the One who makes all things new! Come let us worship together.

PRAYER FOR RENEWAL (Unison) Loving Jesus, we confess that the world seems no different now than when you arrived in the tiny town of Bethlehem over 2 millennia ago. Political leaders oppress with their power and suppress those whose voices remain unheard. Political systems deny basic human rights to those struggling to survive. There is corruption and systemic racism that perpetuate the status quo and maintain poverty and inequality in our country. The most vulnerable people are turned away before they are even given a chance. Children and women are degraded and seniors do not have access to adequate medical care. We struggle with these truths and our own personal problems as we seek to live out your vision in our lives and in our world. Please receive our confession. (Contemplative silence)
